Anything as a Service (XaaS) refers to the variety of products and tools that can be purchased using an “as a service” consumption model. With this model, companies offload IT responsibility to the service provider. The service provider may own the assets, monitor them and manage them as part of a packaged deal.
The term became popular as companies shifted from purchase-based to software-based models and as the internet enabled the delivery of services from the cloud.
XaaS can include a variety of technology service models, including:
XaaS is highly customizable and scalable, which makes it easy to meet evolving demands and business needs by adding or removing capabilities. This enables teams to be more agile — as well as cost effective — since XaaS models require organizations to only pay for what they use. This also decreases total cost of ownership, eliminating the need to own hardware and software.
Outsourced IT gives internal teams time back to focus on larger business goals — and the confidence to know their solutions are in the hands of experienced professionals. Without the burden of managing IT resources, organizations have increased opportunities to drive innovation and digital transformation.
