We demonstrated some of these opportunities at a recent event at the Quantico Cyber Hub. Insight Public Sector and the Cyber Bytes Foundation hosted the first Innovation and Networking Summit at the Quantico Cyber Hub on June 17, 2021. We had 16 technology brand partners on hand to discuss and demonstrate to various federal customers customized solutions that accelerate the implementation of advanced cyber technologies through experimentation, innovation, research and application.
The Insight Quantico Cyber Hub (QCH) 5G lab is a technical, vendor-agnostic solution incubator and proving ground for combining 5G with other mobility solutions. In the lab, the Insight team can quickly evaluate government use cases, demonstrate capabilities and conduct proof of concept (POC) exercises to develop multi-vendor solutions using industry off the shelf (COTS) products.
The Insight networking solutions team can also expand the usefulness of mobile communications, developing customized solutions for end-use applications by collaborating with our Digital Innovation (DI) and Cloud + Data Center Transformation (CDCT) teams, as well as with our partners, through our interconnected labs within the QCH.
Insight will use the 5G lab to build, test, evaluate and stress test 5G communications platforms, including private pLTE/5G/ CBRS and public cellular LTE/5G options. The intent of the lab is to trial multiple vendor solutions for evolved packet cores (EPCs), radio access networks (RAN), user equipment (UE), zero trust architectures/technologies, traditional Wi-Fi and other mobility technologies. In doing so, we help solve wireless communications challenges and various government/Department of Defense (DoD) use cases.
The 5G lab will have the capability to test both indoor and outdoor use cases, with radios and antennas located inside, outside fixed and outside mobile. Our POCs will be scoped with stress testing and Electronic Warfare (EW) in mind, working to identify weaknesses and vulnerabilities within the technologies and use cases we are solutioning for.
We provide real-time feedback to vendors and clients on improvements that need to be made to mitigate those issues.
The overriding mission of the 5G lab is to work with customers to understand their use cases, their mission and the concerns they have around these technologies, in order to develop solutions that can be rapidly and cost effectively put into field trials and production. The 5G lab offers the ability to conduct frontline POCs and solutions that can justify broader or more comprehensive POCs and field trials on a customer location in real-world environments.
Use cases that the 5G team is working on for near-term demonstrations include:
You can see why we’re so excited about the QHC. I love that it’s called a lab, because we have the chance to experiment and get it right together, as true partners. With the tools and intelligence at our fingertips, there’s never been a better time to get to work. What questions do you have? Your needs are at the heart of the innovation we’re driving, so we want to hear from you.
